My love for flowers began when I was a little girl, and my dad brought some almost dead Vinca plants home from the grocery store. He gave them to me and said they would be as beautiful as my care wanted them to be. I planted those very sad looking plants outside the window of my room and was amazed how they came back to life and were so beautiful with just a little attention. That was the beginning of a great love for flowers, branches & beautiful foliage.
Every time I see one gorgeous bloom, or a beautiful leaf, or a budding branch, I think about what that living thing has gone through to become what it is. And it is with that admiration for the blooms & buds themselves that I create floral designs that not only add the magical touches to an event but also do justice to the blooms themselves.
My Floral Journey:
I was able to begin working for our local florist at the age of 16. I worked through high school and college at a couple of floral shops learning as much as I could. I earned a degree in Elementary Education, yet I still chose to work in the floral industry. I became a trainer and buyer for a large mass marketing superstore chain, becoming the youngest & only female District leader in the company of over 100 store locations. Still driven by a love of anything floral!
As fate has a way sometimes, my husband took a job back near our roots in MO, so I had the opportunity to open a floral shop of my own in my hometown. Success is a lot of work; 3 kids and a busy, busy life soon took the joys of owning a business away. With that, I decided to use my Education degree & teach. Teaching is also a wonderful profession & I thoroughly enjoyed my 16 years with students. And of course, I always taught a seed unit each spring, and we couldn't miss painting garden pictures!
After two more kids & eventually my youngest off to college, the yearning to get back into the floral business was too strong to resist. The Bloomtique was established in 2018, and even through the tough pandemic days, it's a dream relived. This is my calling, my dream job, my passion. And with that, I put my all into every flower & each design that goes out the door. It’s a privilege to share my blooms with you -that's what I do, that's who I am!
So let's get your one-of-a-kind floral party started!!
"Deanna is the Elton John of flowers." -Cole C.
"Thank you to Deanna for her beautiful work! Our daughter loves flowers and is highly allergic to them. Deanna used her skill and artistry to bring beauty to the wedding while keeping an understanding of the bride’s allergies front and center throughout the process. The result was gorgeous wedding flowers and greenery without the need for allergy medicine, a first for the bride! With no advance notice, Deanna used her skills to quickly and creatively weave pieces of fabric from the bride’s mom’s wedding dress (made by the bride’s Grandma) into the bridal bouquet, creating a once-in-a-lifetime special moment for three generations of women (bride, mom, grandma) to savor. Deanna’s work complemented the simple elegance of the venue, enhancing its beauty and supporting the bride’s vision for this special day. It was a joy working with Deanna." - Kristi M.
